Rated 3 out of 5 by NoraJeanne Nice, but not what I ordered
I originally purchased this ring as a gift for a family member. I ordered it online and was somewhat disappointed that the product itself differed from the online photo.
The mystic fire topaz actually reflects dark purples and deep greens and blues; it does not appear light purple or rainbow colored at all. Also, the setting is not entirely yellow gold. The band is yellow gold, however, where you see the white sapphires and diamonds, the metal they?re set in is white gold. Don?t get me wrong; the ring IS nice, but it was not what I?d expected.
The white sapphires are a little dull, and the diamonds are also not what they appear to be. 4 microscopic diamonds are placed on the band, spaced between with a tiny section of raised metal to falsely give the impression that there are more than just 4 tiny diamond specks. Also, the band itself is rather thin. Personally, I prefer the thin band, but some people may not like it.
Mystic fire topaz is created by applying a thin layer of titanium on the back of the stone. My ring arrived with spots of the titanium layer rubbed off ? leaving the center stone colorless in some areas. I would warn that if my ring arrived like this, the titanium layer mustn?t be very durable. I ended up exchanging this ring for the ruby version in white gold and was very pleased with my decision. I gave it as a gift, and then bought another for myself because I was so impressed with it.
So in conclusion; this ring is a great style but be warned that it isn?t anything like Peoples' photo. I returned mine before I was able to take photos. Check it out in store if you?re still interested.
I would recommend buying this ring in another center stone - like the pink sapphire, ruby or amethyst. At least you know it won't change over the years.
